Great Scott! (And Kimberly): A Perfect Austin Wedding

It is a laid back Sunday morning.  The sun is shining its face on the day.  And the groom is shining with anticipation.  The piano music swells on… and on… and on!  Then Kimberly, tall and fair, finally makes her appearance.  Beautiful and dazzling, she walks down the aisle toward Scott.  A match made in heaven.  It is a heart-warming ceremony full of love and laughter.  It is a perfect, classy Austin wedding with the most awesome candy table imaginable and the cutest photo booth in town!  What a cute couple, and what an absolutely gorgeous day!  Thanks Scott and Kimberly for the wonderful memories!

Wedding Bells

It was a cloudy Saturday afternoon.  A perfect day for a wedding in Houston!  Kewanta, cool and confident, strides into the changing room 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony, cool as a cucumber.  Her hair was perfectly made.  Her make-up was immaculate.  This is the bride.  She slips on her dress and is ready.  Now this is someone who knows what’s going on.  I’m outside the changing room and see David briefly.  He has the same confident smoothness about him.  The guests wait with bated breath for the bride as the ceremony begins.  She is beautiful.  No words can describe the beauty and joy of the ceremony.  But hopefully I’ve captured some of it.  So here’s the the Bells.  It is always a happy day to see such love expressed!

Ava-ness

Yesterday was a total adventure!  I had the greatest pleasure photographing Ava, the sweetest aspiring teen model.  And although she was shy toward the camera at first, I got to see her open up a little and get a glimpse of her true personality, her Ava-ness.

We tromped around the Menil in Houston, getting mauled by mosquitoes and finally giving in to spraying on the most putrid-smelling organic insect repellent imaginable to man!  But we survived the intense workout of fleeing from mosquitoes, jumping in the air, climbing trees, and rolling around the grass and concrete.  Well, Ava did most of that.  I just did the clicking thing.

Afterward, we headed down to my favorite sushi place, Zake, which is right down the street from the Menil.  Clacie, Ava’s dad treated Kamron and me to some fine sushi and sashimi, which we promptly stuffed our faces with, (or at least I did)!  Ava made the most valiant effort to use chopsticks the entire meal, which I am totally giving her props for.  Great job, Ava!  And terrific job on your photo shoot and showing off one of the most beautiful smiles I have seen in a long time!

Photo Tips from Pey-Jing: Tip #25 Color

Look around you!  There is color everywhere.  Although, black-and-white photography gives a vintage look and feel to photographs, I often love to shoot in color because of all the different vibrant hues you can capture with your camera.  The next time you are walking down the street, or at the supermarket, notice the different colors that can pop out at you.  With the right combination of colors, you can emphasize certain aspects of your photograph.  You can use color to draw attention to parts of your photograph, or just have the colors in your photograph serve as a piece of eye candy for viewers to enjoy.  There can be a specific goal to capturing color, or just to capture it for it’s own beauty is wonderful as well.

Since photographers cannot always control what colors they can compose in their camera like painters can in choosing their palette, most often than not, you have to choose your “palette” as a photographer from the existing world surrounding you.  This will cause you to be more observant.  Try to notice the little things.  If something colorful catches your eye, take a closer look.  It may be that shot you were looking for.  So go out there and enjoy the colors of the world around you.  Capture them with your trusty camera!

New Site in the Works!

My name is Pey-Jing Mehrinfar and I am a photographer.  I am proud to announce that Li Mehrinfar Studios’ new site is finally in progress.  Obviously, I am not finished with the site, but I am working diligently each day to get my site back up and running as soon as possible for everyone’s viewing (and reading) pleasure.  Please check back in a month or so for the completed version of my site in August!  I am excited about this new change and hope that you will enjoy looking through my new website!  I’ll leave you with a photograph of my husband and his brothers that illustrates the joys of summer.
